Access to HE

Access to HE

The Access course is designed specifically for people who may not have the conventional educational requirements to enter on to a higher education course. The aim of the course is to enable you to acquire the skills, knowledge and confidence to compete on an equal footing with those students starting degree programmes through the conventional entry channels of ‘A’ Levels or BTECs.

If you successfully pass the Access course, you will be guaranteed a place on a relevant Honours Degree course at CU Scarborough.

Additionally, a student loan is available to those aged 19 and over, so there are no upfront costs.

Learning mode

Our Access programmes are year-long daytime (Mon-Thurs, 9.30am-2pm) courses that aim to give mature students the opportunity to prepare for an undergraduate Honours Degree.

We have two intakes each year, so you can start at a time that is convenient for you, October or January.

Entry points

At CUS we offer entry points onto our Access to HE throughout the academic year.

October January

If you are looking to get back into education, but need extra support bridging the gap, the Connect course will be a useful way for you to explore the idea of university and boost your confidence. This free course will provide information on how to progress to university and the skills needed to succeed. Each session will take place in Scarborough for two hours each week for five weeks.
