As our civil and environmental engineering courses have been designed to meet the needs of niche and highly specialised national and international markets, the focus of our lectures, projects, caste studies and coursework are based on various real life civil related environmental engineering issues.
In addition, by discussing with visiting professionals, visiting sites and mixing with the part time students working in the industry, you will have opportunities to gain experience as a professional civil and environmental engineer.
Similarly, the MEng with Professional Development Programme (PDP) has structured training that will help you to gain some portfolio of experience.
Our degree aims to help you explore a route into many civil and environmental engineering careers and supported by the Civil and Environmental Engineering Industrial Advisory Board.
From these, you should be equipped with the knowledge and skills to work for environmental policymakers, regulators/operating authorities, (eg. Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and Scottish Environmental Protection Agency), local authorities, planners, emergency services, property developers, international development agencies and NGOs. These skills could also be applied in water, waste and energy utility companies, large infrastructure developers, environmental and engineering consultancies and contractors such as Arup, Mott Macdonald, Atkins, JBA, Hyder, and Costain, as well as research organisations like HR Wallingford and CEH.
