Recruitment and employer liaison

Coventry University aim to provide a supply of motivated students for placements and graduate jobs. To that end, the Careers Service run a number of programmes and initiatives that should reduce the cost of recruiting and help you find the right employee for your company.

The Employer Engagement Team work with a number of local, national and global employer partners, offering tailored recruitment services to help them reach our student talent pool. We run a range of employer events during the academic year, from large careers fairs designed to help raise employer profiles on campus, to tailored networking events designed to help employers reach their target audience. We also have a range of online tools and promotional channels at our disposal, including social media channels, plasma screens, target emails and our free vacancy portal Coventry Prospects.

Our recruitment services are bespoke and tailored to the needs of your company, whether you are a large enterprise, SME or start-up business. We have often supported employers in their recruitment campaigns by running interviews on campus, assisting with initial CV collation and by facilitating skills workshops and mock interview sessions.

Coventry University also has one of the most innovative and comprehensive employability programmes in the UK with more than 15,000 undergraduates students taking accredited Add+vantage modules each year. A specialist employer-focused module has been developed in association with Jaguar Land Rover, Severn Trent Water, Enterprise-Rent-A-Car and FDM to give students unique industry insights and experiences, including an opportunity to work on a case study project based on and presented to our employer partners. Students are also provided with opportunities to network with employers to gain understanding of how large and complex organisations work and to hear first-hand from staff working in these companies what skills they will need to be successful.

If you are looking to target Coventry students for your recruitment campaign or would like any further information, please contact the Employer Engagement Team. Our details are below.

Student Projects

Investigation and accumulation of information is one of the key activities that students undertake. They are taught methods of research, analysis and interrogation of information and have strong skills in the use of communication media. Once successfully completed they can take this information and seek to develop it into a creative proposal for the client. This can have a number of advantages:

  • it stimulates and inspires company staff by demonstrating a wide range of dynamically presented innovations;
  • it will involve a culturally diverse perspective due to the demographic make-up of our student population.

An example student project model:

  1. The client provides a project brief
  2. The student will carry out market research into the customer groups and their lifestyle choices, expectations and latent needs
  3. The student will present proposals in a variety of formats
  4. Further analysis can follow if the client wishes to focus in on specific areas of interest

This model can be further tailored to meet the needs of the client in terms of urgency and level of expertise required.
